Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you enter as a key member of the early team, owning the full accounting cycle for our German entity: from daily bookkeeping through to annual financial statements under German GAAP. This is a hands-on role with full ownership of the German books. You will report to our Head of Finance in Cyprus, who owns the group finance function, and work day to day in Garching with our COO and Supply Chain Lead.

Core accounting

• Own day-to-day accounting in Odoo: payables and receivables, general ledger, bank reconciliations, expense claims and corporate cards, and the chart of accounts behind them

• Reconcile payroll postings, social security contributions and the payroll journal from our external payroll provider

• Prepare weekly payment runs for COO approval

• Own close and reporting: month-end close, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, through to the annual financial statements under German GAAP

• Own audit preparation and act as day-to-day contact for our auditors

Assets, inventory and product costing

• Manage fixed assets: asset register, depreciation schedules and periodic physical verification

• Own inventory and cost accounting for our hardware builds, including product costing and development costs by project

• Support the Supply Chain Lead on purchase-to-pay: three-way matching, accruals and import documentation

Tax and statutory reporting

• Own VAT compliance: quarterly and annual returns, reverse charge, import VAT and EC Sales List reporting

• Prepare the corporate income tax and trade tax package, including the E-Bilanz, for filing with our tax advisors

• Manage our other German filings: Bundesbank reporting, Intrastat, publication of the annual accounts and statistical returns

Group and intercompany

• Handle intercompany invoicing and balances with the Cyprus entity under our cost-plus transfer pricing framework, and support transfer pricing documentation

Systems, controls and documentation

• Contribute to the Odoo implementation from the finance side: data quality, process design and a compliant DATEV export

• Implement e-invoicing in Odoo (ZUGFeRD / XRechnung)

• Own the integrity of our records: complete and correct source documents, and filing and audit trails that meet German digital record-keeping requirements (GoBD)

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on German accounting experience, with proven ownership of the full accounting cycle through to completed annual financial statements under German GAAP, not just supporting someone else's process

• Core Skills: Deep knowledge of German GAAP (HGB), German VAT law, and GoBD; hands-on proficiency with DATEV

• Qualification: Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK), Steuerfachwirt, or an accounting degree paired with equivalent hands-on experience

• Background: Manufacturing or hardware (automotive, machine building, electronics, or similar), including inventory accounting and product costing, plus experience handling cross-border and intercompany transactions

• Languages: Native or fluent German; fluent English (our internal working language)

• Mindset: Structured, precise and discreet, you balance the agility of a startup with the professional rigor required for a global industrial player, closing loops and flagging issues early

Strong plus

• Hands-on Odoo experience, or a track record of learning a new ERP quickly

• Bundesbank reporting, corporate income tax, Intrastat and similar statutory filings

• Experience of a German tax audit (Betriebsprüfung)
